My nephew’s guacamole dip recipe

My nephew R makes the best guacamole dip. I just cannot get enough of it, so last time he made up a batch I begged him to tell me his secret. He explained with guacamole, less is more. The mistake most people make is by adding too much to the dip. His tip: Never use guacamole seasoning mixes or salsa. His recipe is as simple as it is good.

R’s Guacamole Dip

  • 4 – Large Haas avocados
  • 1 – Med onion, diced small
  • 3 – Cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 – Tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 – Small tomato, diced (only if in season; otherwise skip it)
  • Salt and pepper

Peel and mash four just-ripe avocados in a medium bowl. Add grated garlic, lime juice and diced tomato (optional). Salt and pepper to taste. Serve with corn chips.
